I realized in the last few months that I actually enjoyed making blog posts, despite being aware no one really reads them, so in the spirit of procrastination I've decided to revive this thing.
Something I've been super into is this blog called by a lady called the Refashionista. She makes the nicest looking clothing out of stuff from second hand stores.
One of my friends nicknamed me MacGyver because I hate throwing things out, but I'm hardly on the Refashionista's level but I was inspired to do a bit of refashioning myself!
Sadly I couldn't submit the fruits of my labour to her site as she has a no selfie policy, but I still wanted to show off a bit!

I got this little number for 2.50$ and I'm pretty sure it was hand made given the wonky seams and lack of a tag.
The awful bathroom selfies don't show how boxy and awkward this dress was when I got it

First things first I lopped off the weird table cloth thingy on the bottom, sewed the side slit up and created a new hem. Since my sewing machine is sadly not with me that required re-learning how to sew a hem by hand. Luckily I had an exam and a paper to procrastinate on, meaning I had so much time to kill! |
The neckline was also less than flattering. I discovered a myriad of thread on the back of it; clearly having been handsewn on, so I unpicked part of it and ripped the center section off before sewing the two bottom corners of the square to make a v-neck
I was pretty happy how this turned out even if I couldn't take in the waist like I'd wanted originally- I'm totally going to have to hit the thrift stores again soon!
